A vacation is not a real vacation unless its days are filled with enjoyable things. However, one of the ways to be happy is to eat great food. This article will cover Maui’s best eats.
Thanks to a 19th-century influx of immigration from diverse plantation laborers, Maui is blessed with a great culinary scene. You’re just as likely to find Filipino flavors as you are a burger by the beach, or exotic seafood from award-winning chefs.
I will go over a few of the best restaurants based on differing categories.
Best Fine Dining: Mama’s Fish House
Cuisine: Hawaiian, Seafood
Price Range: $$$
Address 799 Poho Pl
Paia, HI 96779

In terms of fine dining, Mama’s Fish House is must for Maui visitors. With a complete private fishing crew on staff. This place serves fish so fresh that the wait staff can tell you the name of the fisherman who caught your entree and where. The preparation method for each fish varies.
You can order Mahimahi from the North Shore which will be served with caramelized onions, baby bok choy, and avocado. Another dish offered is Ahi that is panko crusted and seared. Also, other selections available include filet mignon and crispy kalua duck.
Also, Mama’s Fish House offers a great atmosphere filled with aloha and a beautiful view set in a cozy home near the ocean. Enjoy the nearby secluded beach and make sure to take a stroll along its white sand. Mama’s Fish House is definitely one of Maui’s best eats.

Best Local Cuisine: Kula Bistro
Italian, American, Vegetarian Friendly
Price Range: $$

Kula, HI 96790

Kula Bistro serves mostly Italian and American food. However, there are a few local dishes and Hawaiian inspired dishes. Kula Bistro is located near the route out of Haleakala National Park. This cafe is open all day and offers a huge selection of dishes, including multiple Benedicts, frittatas, pancakes and local favorites.
One favorite breakfast is the Loco Moco, high-quality beef, two eggs and steamed rice, covered in homemade brown gravy, and topped with sauteed mushrooms and Maui onions. Lunch and dinner options are great as well.
Best Cheap Eats: ABC Stores Island Deli Hawaii
American, Hawaiian, Asian
Price Range: $
Multiple Areas Around Maui

Maui can be a very expensive place to visit. To find the best value meals, I highly recommend the Island Deli of ABC Stores.
Island Deli Hawaii is located in select ABC Stores throughout Maui. Island Deli locations are committed to allow customers to experience freshly made food. Here one can find premium burgers, freshly made sandwiches, salads, and wraps.
Also, there are also local home cooked daily specials and freshly made poke that are traditional favorites of regular homegrown customers. An early morning breakfast, quick lunch, or late night snack is available at Island Deli.
I covered restaurants that offer different types of experiences. Despite its price differences, all of these places provide great food. Maui has a great food scene and a great way to make the best of your vacation.
